Column 15: Masters icons

by Kevin F Holy

Mastering something is not my area of expertise, but I think it's ok to repeat the people who have mastered this:

David Fincher was the early and first master

Hype Williams was the second

Sophie Muller next, Chris Cunningham, Joseph Kahn, Spike Jonze, and hopefully uh MG.

Some other near-masters are Russell Mulcahy, Zbigniew Rybczyński, Steve Barron

Artists like Missy Elliott, Kanye, Prince, David Bowie, and Beyoncé have shown mastery as well.

And don't forget Nigel Dick, Marty Callner, and dp Daniel Pearl.

As for icons, the only true icons of music video are Madonna and the late Michael Jackson, each videography of theirs teems with unmistakable and almost untouchable grace (for Madonna), agility (for Mr. Jackson), and art.

Column 16: Me

by Kevin F Holy

There's no objectivity here: I've done mv promotion for 19 years, and have little else to say.

I feel like I've laid my thesis out over the stretch of Athens Music Video (link), 'Director File', here and antville.org.

I'll keep promoting, but I can't comment until I have a reason.

Sincerely,

Kevin F Holy
